Tales of Bharat - Issue #3
Wondering why? Now that most of India has learnt a new word, it might as well be included in our dictionary. Now that said, at D91 Labs we had the most eventful week since we started our lab. Here is a snippet into our past week and work :)
A friend once told me that ‘Do what you love’ is a overrated quote but rather 'Learn to make money from what you love’ is more holistic one. Have always pondered around it. Here is a story of Niranjan who stands true to the quote by converting his passion into a cup of tea ☕
“Madam, I am on my way, will be there in 2 minutes.” exclaimed the person over the phone, as we waited outside a shop which was bustling with the chitter-chatter of students in uniforms, all…
Design for Data - Talk by Dan Hayden
We had the opportunity to host a talk around designing for data by Dr. Dan Hayden, Data strategist from Facebook in collaboration with Facebook. Here is a summary of the talk for those who couldnt make it.
In the information economy, data is the currency and yet we understand the important of data creation and sharing far less than what we understand about the functioning of money. On Sep 18, 2019 we…
Design for Bharat - A workshop on Trust & awareness
D91 Labs, Facebook / TTC Labs and Parallel Labs organised a closed group workshop for fintechs in Bangalore to come together to solve for some of the promising opportunity statements for Bharat. We had more than 50 participants from Razorpay, PhonePe, Scripbox, Zestmoney, Cleartax, Smallcase, Flipkart and Facebook.
The participants were divided into teams consisting of designers, product managers, researchers and public policy experts to brainstorm on common challenges faced by fintech in India. The problem statements were enriched with our field research from ‘Decoding Bharat’ series.
The workshop was loved by all the participants and we were showered with well wishes and we look forward to organise more of this format. The work from the workshop will soon be published on D91 labs and TTC labs website.
Thats all of us :)

Loved being in a room full of product managers, designers, & behavioural economists solving for how to make FinTech more accessible to the marginalized!

From around the web:
As we write our research series, we are inspired by the community who publish some incredible work in the field of designing for next billion users. We are curating some of the links that we enjoyed reading for you :)
I hover inside the dilapidated house. The aroma of flavourful curries intermingled, with lingering whiff of cow dung escaping from the cakes left to dry on the rooftop, welcomes me. Seema comes out…
